My name is Teli Kaur, and I have proudly called Ararat home for 13 years. I am a mum of two - aged 17 and 6 - who attend local schools.
I arrived in Australia in 2008 as a student at Federation University in Ballarat, and this country has since become my home.
I moved to Ararat in 2011 and worked at the Ararat RSL for 11 years.
Since May 2022, I've been the Manager of Ararat Neighbourhood House, where I've closely collaborated with many of you to address community needs, focusing on food insecurity, fostering connections, and making a positive impact.
I am standing for the 2024 Ararat City Council elections because my role at Ararat Neighbourhood House has provided me with a deep understanding of local needs and helped me build strong relationships within the community.
By addressing local issues and providing essential services, I've gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing Ararat.
Running for council will enable me to extend my impact, advocate for the community on a broader scale, and bring my hands-on, compassionate approach to local governance.
I am dedicated to improving the well-being of all residents and ensuring that everyone's voice is heard.
My vision for Ararat is one of inclusivity, opportunity, and growth.
If elected, I will prioritize listening to community needs, supporting local businesses, and organizing inclusive events that celebrate Ararat's cultural diversity. I also aim to ensure our local council operates with transparency and accountability.
